Need to recognize teaching as the foremost duty and evolve a system of incentives (and disincentives) to encourage effort in this area.  Research must go hand in hand but not lead to a lopsided emphasis just because effects/benefits are more tangible.  My biggest concern for any academic institution is corporatization.
